Vitor Pereira's tenure as Nottingham Forest manager is reportedly in doubt, a surprising development less than two months after he guided the club to Premier League safety. Pereira, who signed an 18-month deal in February to succeed Sean Dyche, has a year remaining on his contract. Talks regarding an extension were expected this summer but have reportedly stalled.
Speculation about Pereira's future has been fueled by reports of interest from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, as well as other unnamed clubs who have taken notice of his work at the City Ground. While no new contract discussions have progressed, the club is said to be exploring potential successors.
Among the candidates being considered is former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner. Glasner was reportedly a strong contender for the Forest job in December 2023 when Steve Cooper departed, but the club ultimately appointed Nuno Espirito Santo. Glasner is currently unattached after leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the previous season.
A potential move for Glasner could add another layer to the rivalry between Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace. The two clubs were in contention for a Europa League spot last season, with UEFA's ruling on American businessman John Textor's influence over both Palace and Lyon leading to Palace being demoted to the Conference League, benefiting Forest.
Pereira's previous managerial stint at Wolves serves as a cautionary note; he signed a three-year contract in September 2025 but was dismissed in November of the same year following a poor start to the season that left the club facing relegation.
