Real Madrid and Brazilian winger Vinícius Júnior have agreed to a new six-year contract, extending his stay at the club through June 30, 2032. The deal comes after 18 months of negotiations and follows a period where the player had entered the final year of his previous contract, attracting attention from Arsenal.
The club acknowledged Vinícius Júnior's significance, stating he has become "one of the most important players in one of the most successful periods in our history." Talks had reportedly reached an impasse until Real Madrid presented a new offer on Wednesday, which the player is understood to appreciate.
Vinícius Júnior joined Real Madrid from Brazilian club Flamengo in 2018. He returned to club training on Monday for his first pre-season session and medical assessment following his participation in the World Cup with Brazil. During his tenure with Real Madrid, he has appeared in 375 matches across all competitions, scoring 128 goals. For the Brazilian national team, he has scored 13 goals in 54 caps.
