Star boxer Tyson Fury seemingly kissed opponent Mariusz Wach during their match in Thailand on Friday, a moment that drew attention amid Fury's continued comeback. The incident occurred in the sixth round when Fury, after landing several blows, wrapped Wach in a clinch and appeared to kiss him before the referee separated them.
Wach, 46, did not continue the fight, which concluded in the following round. This is not the first time Fury has engaged in a similar tactic; he also playfully feigned a kiss before a 2019 fight against Tom Schwarz, which he ultimately won.
The bout marked a significant step for Fury as he prepares for a potential super fight against fellow British boxer Anthony Joshua, scheduled for November. Fury, 37, expressed his desire to be more active, stating, "I’ve had one fight in two years… This is my second fight in two years, of course I wanted to get the rounds in. I want to be active."
Fury's record now stands at 36 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, with 25 knockouts. This win followed his return to the ring in April against Arslanbek Makhmudov. He will be observing Joshua's upcoming fight on Saturday against Kristian Prenga. However, Fury stated he would not attend the bout in Saudi Arabia, opting instead to return home to his family after an extended period of training camps.
"I’ve been away the last six or seven months. I’m definitely not going to Jeddah. I’m going home to my wife and kids who have been supporting me from a distance," Fury said. "I’ve been away in training camp for 10 weeks. I was away before that for four months, so I’m going to go home and have a rest."
