Tyrell Malacia Trains with FC Cincinnati Following Manchester United Departure
The 27-year-old defender is seeking a new club after being released by Manchester United, undertaking a trial with the MLS side.
Former Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia is training with MLS side FC Cincinnati as he searches for his next club after his departure from Old Trafford.
Malacia, 27, was released by Manchester United in the summer after four years with the club. He is looking to restart his career after his final season was hampered by injury, limiting him to just 15 minutes of senior football.
The defender is currently on trial with FC Cincinnati, participating in first-team training. The club stated that the arrangement provides an opportunity for both parties to assess compatibility. "FC Cincinnati has a good relationship with Malacia's agent; training with the team is an opportunity for both parties to see if they are a good fit," the club said.
Malacia joined Manchester United in 2022 from Feyenoord for a reported £13 million. He made 50 appearances for the club in total. His time at Old Trafford was significantly impacted by a serious knee injury that sidelined him for 17 months and required two surgeries. In the 2025 season, he had a brief loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, where he played 12 matches.
