Nearly 10 months after sustaining a severe leg and knee injury, Tyreek Hill is still working to regain strength and power, casting uncertainty on his NFL future. The former Dolphins star receiver stated in a YouTube video that he currently has "no power" in his left leg, which was significantly damaged in a game last September.
Hill suffered tears to his ACL, MCL, and LCL during a tackle in a "Monday Night Football" game and has since undergone two surgeries. He reported having an LCL surgery in February. His recovery process involves extensive rehabilitation, including activating quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, and calves, alongside stability and mobility exercises.
Despite the challenges, Hill expressed optimism about his progress. "Timeline looking real good right now, man," he said in a clip titled "The Cheetah Runs AGAIN." His recent posts have shown him performing various rehabilitation exercises, including work in a pool and on a basketball court, and attempting "tempo" runs, which he acknowledged are ahead of his doctors' recommendations.
Hill, who is a free agent after the Dolphins released him in the offseason, relied heavily on his speed as a receiver. In the 2023 season, he recorded 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. His production decreased in 2024 to 959 yards and six scores, and he had 21 catches for 265 yards and one touchdown in limited action last season.
Doctors initially expressed concern about his long-term mobility, with Hill recalling one physician saying, "Bro, we don’t know what’s going to happen with your future." He is aiming to regain his explosiveness and burst to ensure that "none of it is missing" when he eventually returns to the field. He anticipates being able to sprint on a track within the next month and a half.
