Travis Kelce marked his return to the Kansas City Chiefs for their preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams by displaying his wedding ring.
Kelce, who married pop star Taylor Swift on July 3 in a ceremony at Madison Square Garden, arrived at Arrowhead Stadium in a distinctive gold tie-dye co-ord set. He was seen wearing his new gold wedding band as he entered the stadium, carrying a can of Accelerator Active Energy Drink, a brand in which he is an investor.
While Swift has frequently attended Chiefs home games, she was not initially seen in the stands as the game began. Kelce's appearance comes after recent reports from NFL insider Jason La Canfora, citing anonymous scouts, suggested that Kelce's top-level performance might be declining. These assessments follow speculation from social media users about his physical condition after his offseason.
Kelce acknowledged his role in the Chiefs' struggles last season, which saw the team miss the playoffs for the first time since 2014. In his first press conference of the season, he stated his commitment to being a better leader and setting a higher standard for his teammates. "When we get stuck, with adversity hitting, who's going to want you in that foxhole with you? That's one of those things, I want to be one of those guys that everybody counts on to be there and get us out of that foxhole," Kelce said. He added that he feels "ready to rock and roll" for the upcoming season and is focused on ensuring the team meets its standard.
Reflecting on his offseason, Kelce described his wedding as the "best night of my life" and a "crazy night" filled with celebration. He also spoke about the significance of holding his wedding at Madison Square Garden, calling it the "Mecca of all sports venues" and a childhood dream fulfilled. He expressed gratitude to the owners of MSG for allowing the private event.
