Jimmy Traina, formerly of Sports Illustrated, has joined forces with former WFAN radio personalities Sal Licata and John Jastremski to establish a new sports media startup. The venture was reported by Front Office Sports.

While specific details about the new company remain limited, Traina announced on social media that he will begin hosting a weekly podcast with Licata in early September. Traina recently announced his departure from Sports Illustrated after more than 20 years, citing a desire to "do something different & evolve with the changing sports media landscape."

Licata and Jastremski are familiar voices in the New York sports radio scene. Licata was a midday host on WFAN until his show with Brandon Tierney was canceled last year following Craig Carton's return to the station. Jastremski departed WFAN in 2021 to join The Ringer, where he hosted the "New York, New York" podcast until parting ways with the publication earlier this year. He and Licata recently launched their own podcast together called "New York Sports Rush" on the BetRivers Network. Licata has also been developing his YouTube channel and contributed to Traina's "SI Media" podcast.

Traina confirmed his departure from Sports Illustrated on Wednesday, expressing gratitude for his time there and stating he would discuss his tenure on his final "SI Media With Jimmy Traina" podcast episode and write his last column on Friday. He indicated that further information about his next steps would be announced soon and that he would continue to cover sports media.
