Trabzonspor has confirmed the departure of head coach Fatih Tekke, less than a week after the club initially blocked his resignation. The decision follows a 2-1 league defeat to Amedspor on Tuesday, after Tekke had attempted to resign following the team's 5-0 Europa League play-off loss to Ferencvaros last week.

Initially, Trabzonspor stated that Tekke's resignation had "not been accepted" and that he would continue in his role, overseeing the match against Amedspor. However, further discussions led to a mutual agreement for Tekke to leave the club.

"As a result of the discussions held, we have mutually agreed to part ways with Fatih Tekke in line with Trabzonspor's interests and future-oriented goals," a club statement read. The club acknowledged Tekke's contributions over his approximately 18-month tenure, citing his role in player development, sporting and economic gains, and winning the Turkish Cup. The statement emphasized that an understanding was reached that a new roadmap was necessary, placing the club's interests above all else.

Fatih Tekke's exit occurs just five games into Mohamed Salah's tenure at the Turkish club. Salah, who joined Trabzonspor in the summer, has scored three goals in five appearances. Despite these individual efforts, the team has secured only one win in their opening three league matches and has been eliminated from the Europa League.

Huseyin Cimşir has been appointed to take charge of Trabzonspor's next match while the club initiates a process to find a permanent replacement for Tekke.
