Tottenham Hotspur has completed the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City for an initial fee of £75 million. The 22-year-old attacker has agreed to a long-term contract with the North London club, which could see an additional £10 million paid in performance-related add-ons.
This transfer marks the culmination of over a year of pursuit, as Tottenham had a previous bid for Savinho rejected last summer. At that time, the player chose to remain with Manchester City, but his first-team opportunities were limited under manager Pep Guardiola, with only seven Premier League starts last season.
Savinho expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating, "It's taken a while but I'm very happy to be here. It's a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world." He added that discussions with the head coach, Roberto de Zerbi, were pivotal in his decision. "As soon as I spoke to the head coach I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level, and I believe we can do that together, as a team."
The winger originally joined Manchester City from French club Troyes in 2024 for £30.8 million. He has since made 84 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and providing 16 assists.
Savinho's arrival is part of a significant summer transfer window for Tottenham. The club has also acquired Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, and Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton for a combined total of £312 million. Additionally, defenders Marcos Senesi and Andrew Robertson, along with goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, have joined on free transfers.
Manager Roberto de Zerbi highlighted Savinho's attributes, describing him as a player who "brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions. He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity."
