Kansas City Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez is not ready to declare the team's dynasty over, expressing optimism for their upcoming season despite Patrick Mahomes' previous injury and the later stage of Travis Kelce's career.

Mahomes, who tore his ACL the day the Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention last season, has been cleared for full participation in training camp. Kelce, after overcoming a tough playoff exit, is returning for his 14th season. Gonzalez noted that Kelce's drive remains strong, similar to his own experience at the end of his Hall of Fame career.

"Everybody knows, it's no secret, he's winding down an incredible career. But he is one of the best to ever do it, if not the best. And it's been fun to watch him play and see all the success he's had on and off the field," Gonzalez told Fox News Digital.

Gonzalez believes that with a potentially rejuvenated Kelce, a revamped running game, and a healthy wide receiver group including Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice, and Tyquan Thornton, the Chiefs' offense should be strong. He anticipates them being a top-10 unit, especially with the return of former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

"If they can creep into that top-10-type defense, then I see no reason. I mean, in the AFC, I think they got a good shot. I think they got a really good shot to win their division and to make some — hey, come playoff time, Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs? Come on. I'm not picking against them," Gonzalez stated.

Gonzalez, who was drafted by the Chiefs in 1997, also discussed his partnership with Novartis to raise awareness about prostate cancer. Having lost family members to the disease and with another relative currently battling it, he emphasizes the importance of early detection through a simple blood test.

"It's the most common cancer amongst men — one in eight chance of getting prostate cancer. So, it's important, and early screening can save lives," Gonzalez said. "So, that's kind of what it is for me. It's like, why wouldn't I want to get on board with something like this?"
