Timofey Mozgov, a former center for the Cleveland Cavaliers, was not included in the team's recent reunion celebrating their 2016 NBA championship. The event, hosted by LeBron James, brought together several key players from the historic championship team.
Mozgov told Russian outlet Sport Express that he was not contacted about the reunion. "Yes, I saw the video of that party," Mozgov said. "No one wrote or called me. If I’d been invited, I’d have gladly joined. Of course, I’d have loved to be there too, to drink some wine."
The reunion trip, which included stops in the United Kingdom with activities like golf and wine tasting, featured players such as Kevin Love, Richard Jefferson, J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson, Channing Frye, Iman Shumpert, and Matthew Dellavedova. Players shared highlights from the trip on social media.
Notably, Kyrie Irving, who made the pivotal go-ahead three-pointer in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, was also absent from the reunion. J.R. Smith addressed speculation about Irving's absence, stating on Instagram that they were on good terms.
Mozgov played for the Cavaliers for two seasons after being acquired from the Denver Nuggets before the 2015 trade deadline. He averaged 7.9 points and 5.4 rebounds in 122 regular-season games with the team. His role diminished during the 2015-16 season following the Cavaliers' acquisition of Channing Frye at the trade deadline. Mozgov appeared in 13 playoff games during the championship run, including five in the NBA Finals, but did not play in the decisive Game 7 victory. That win secured the franchise's first NBA championship and completed their historic comeback from a 3-1 series deficit.
