The college football recruiting landscape saw significant shifts in June, with Texas A&M, Notre Dame, and LSU establishing themselves as major players in the 2027 cycle. As official visits wound down, these programs made substantial gains, solidifying their positions in the national rankings.
Texas A&M Dominates Early Recruiting
The Texas A&M Aggies have assembled a commanding recruiting class, already boasting six composite five-star commitments. The program secured two top-50 prospects in June alone, with another just outside that threshold. This level of early success is notable, as most programs would consider two top-50 players a significant achievement for an entire recruiting cycle.
Notre Dame Ascends with Strong June Performance
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are positioned as a strong contender, holding the second spot in the 2027 rankings. Head Coach Marcus Freeman has bolstered the team's recruiting efforts, building on a top-five class from the previous cycle. In June, Notre Dame added two five-star players along the offensive line, including two five-star offensive tackles, and a top-100 wide receiver. The Irish have excelled at attracting talent from the Midwest and Northeast regions, creating a well-rounded class.
LSU Makes Significant Strides
The LSU Tigers have made a notable climb in the 2027 recruiting rankings, moving from the 40s in May to a stronger position after adding former head coach Ed Orgeron to their staff. Despite an initial setback when five-star edge prospect Jaiden Bryant flipped to Miami in early June, LSU responded effectively. The Tigers secured commitments from two top-100 edge rushers, Chris Whitehead and K.J. Green, and added two four-star running backs, Trey Martin and David Segara. LSU is also in contention to flip elite five-star prospects Easton Royal (wide receiver) and Jaden Brewster (defensive tackle) from Texas and Texas Tech, respectively, with groundwork laid in June.
