Tacko Fall is set to return to the National Basketball Association after signing a training camp deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, the team announced Tuesday.

Fall, who stands at 7-foot-6, has not played in an NBA game since late 2021. He appeared in 11 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers during that season. Since then, the native of Senegal has played in the Chinese Basketball Association and Australia's National Basketball League (NBL).

Fall previously spent two seasons with the Boston Celtics from 2019 to 2021, playing in 26 total games. During his four years playing overseas, he averaged 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game in 18.1 minutes. He played last season with the Ningbo Rockets in China.

The addition of Fall signals a potential need for backup center depth for the 76ers, particularly behind Joel Embiid, who has faced injury concerns in recent seasons. The current roster lists free agent acquisition Ariel Hukporti and second-year player Adem Bona as potential backups for Embiid.

Fall's deal is non-guaranteed, meaning he will need to perform well in training camp to secure a spot on the 76ers' final roster. In his 37 career NBA games, Fall has averaged 2.2 points and 2.4 rebounds.
