Veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs has garnered interest from at least five NFL teams as training camps begin, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Diggs, who recently had felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges dismissed, is reportedly "highly motivated" to join a new team after being cut by the Patriots.

Diggs, 32, is coming off an 85-catch, 1,013-yard season in 2025, demonstrating recovery from a torn ACL in 2024. He has indicated a willingness to play as a No. 2 receiver rather than commanding the primary target role, a position he held for significant periods with the Vikings, Bills, Texans, and Patriots. He stated on YouTube that he believes he could be the best No. 2 receiver in the league.

The Washington Commanders are among the teams reportedly showing interest. The Commanders' appeal lies in their quarterback, Jayden Daniels, and Diggs' potential return to the Washington D.C. area, where he was born and played high school and college football. Following Terry McLaurin, Washington's receiver depth chart includes Luke McCaffrey, Antonio Williams, Dyami Brown, Jaylin Lane, Treylon Burks, and Van Jefferson, lacking a solidified No. 2 option.

Fowler suggested that a decision on Diggs' next team may not come immediately, as some players prefer to wait a week or two before reporting to training camp. While the exact identity of the five teams expressing interest remains undisclosed, the Commanders' situation presents a potential fit.

Diggs' previous contract situation and subsequent release from the Patriots had left him as a notable free agent as NFL training camps commenced for the 2026 season.
