Stan Kroenke, the billionaire owner of the Los Angeles Rams and Arsenal, has expanded his professional sports holdings by agreeing to purchase the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball. The deal marks Kroenke's entry into MLB.

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) has reached an agreement to buy the Angels from Arte Moreno, who has owned the franchise for 23 years. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"The Angels are a storied franchise anchored in a great market," Kroenke said in a statement. "We look forward to an exciting future with the Angels organization."

Moreno, who became MLB's first Latino owner, faced increasing pressure from fans to sell the team in recent years. His tenure began with a successful period for the Angels, including five American League West titles and two AL Championship Series appearances between 2004 and 2009. However, the team has not won a playoff game in the last decade and has experienced losing seasons from 2016 through 2026.

"The Angels organization is pleased to announce this transaction with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment," Moreno stated. "The Moreno Family has been honored to steward the Angels for 23 years and we believe with KSE's experience and success they are the best next owner for the franchise. The Angels Organization looks forward to continuing its commitment to the fans, our employees, the players and our business partners."

Moreno initially placed the team on the market in 2022 but withdrew it after five months despite interest from potential buyers. Kroenke has previously expressed interest in acquiring an MLB team, having been a runner-up bidder for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2012.

While the Angels have faced recent struggles, Kroenke's other sports franchises have seen considerable success. Arsenal won the Premier League title in May, and its women's team secured the Champions League title in the 2024-25 season. Kroenke's portfolio also includes the Denver Nuggets (NBA), the Colorado Avalanche (NHL), the Colorado Rapids (MLS), and the Colorado Mammoth (National Lacrosse League).
