Major League Wrestling star Shotzi Blackheart has asserted her claim to the title of "Indy God" in professional wrestling, stating that WWE star Matt Cardona must acknowledge her supremacy on the independent circuit. The "Indy God" moniker gained prominence with Cardona following his 2020 WWE release, as he achieved significant success across various independent promotions.
Cardona, who recently rejoined WWE, previously told Fox News Digital that while he didn't believe anyone currently held the "Indy God" title, he named Blackheart, Richard Holliday, and Ben Bishop as top independent wrestlers. Upon hearing these remarks, Blackheart expressed confidence that Cardona is aware of her status.
"I think he knows that I am. Like, come on," Blackheart told Fox News Digital. "Like, I know that he was signed by the time the polls came out for the independent wrestler of the year, PWI's independent wrestler of the year. But I beat him by a lot. By a lot. So, yeah, I think like the fans know it. I've beaten him in the ring. I beat him in the magazine."
Blackheart further elaborated on her claim, stating, "And I think he's just got to say it. He's just got to admit it. Like he keeps trying to say, ‘Oh man, I mean maybe like also Ben Bishop and Richard (Holliday).’ No, shut up! It's Shotzi Blackheart and you know it. Like come on. Like we created something really special on the indies. Not a lot of people are doing really big storylines that like really mean something and he has to admit we created something special and I'm the ‘Indy God.’ I'm everywhere."
Shotzi's recent career highlights include wrestling dozens of matches globally in the spring and winning the MLW Women’s World Championship. She is also scheduled to compete in a 10-woman battle royal next week at Awesome Championship Wrestling's Indypendence Day event in Poughkeepsie, New York, to determine the No. 1 contender for the women's championship.
In addition to her MLW title, Blackheart currently holds the House of Glory Women’s Championship and the Atomic Legacy Wrestling Women’s Championship, underscoring her widespread presence and success on the independent wrestling scene.
