Los Angeles Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani has revealed that his second child, born last week, is a boy. The gender announcement came five days after the birth of the newborn.

Ohtani first hinted at the child's sex through an Instagram post featuring the infant wrapped in a blue blanket. He and his wife, former basketball player Mamiko Tanaka, welcomed their second child after previously having a daughter born last April.

When asked about his son's potential interest in baseball, Ohtani expressed that children should determine their own futures. "For now, I want to do my best until this contract (with the Dodgers) expires," he said in Japanese. "I think children should decide their own futures. I just want to do my best at what I do."

Ohtani described his newborn son as "cute" but noted his concern over having to join a road trip shortly after the birth. "But I had to come on a road trip right away, so I think I’m more worried than anything," he stated.

Following the birth of his daughter last year, Ohtani had described experiencing "blissful sleep deprivation." With his family now expanded, he expressed a desire for them to "happily spend time together."
