The Seattle Seahawks have waived running back Anthony Hankerson, potentially allowing him to return to college football. Hankerson, who signed with the Seahawks last week, is among a group of players who graduated high school in 2022 and are now eligible for a fifth collegiate season following a Louisiana court order.
Hankerson saw limited action in the Seahawks' preseason game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday night, rushing for 10 yards on five carries and making two receptions for nine yards. He was an undrafted rookie out of Oregon State, initially signing with the Miami Dolphins in April before being waived earlier this month.
During his time at Oregon State, Hankerson recorded 1,086 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in his second season. He also contributed with 22 receptions for 123 receiving yards. Once he clears waivers, Hankerson may enter the transfer portal to find a new collegiate team. Another player, T.J. Harden, who also played in the Seahawks' preseason game against Dallas and was waived, was granted a similar temporary restraining order and entered the transfer portal last week.
