The Seattle Seahawks raised their second championship banner on Thursday night, commemorating their Super Bowl LX victory and kicking off the new NFL season. The ceremony took place at Lumen Field ahead of a Week 1 rematch against the New England Patriots, seven months after the Seahawks defeated them in the championship game.

Seahawks legend Kam Chancellor led a pre-game chant before a curtain dropped to reveal the banner, which read "2025 World Champions" and featured the Super Bowl LX logo. The win held particular significance for Seattle fans, known as "The 12s," as it avenged their loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.

In the Super Bowl LX matchup, the Seahawks' defense contained the Patriots' offense, securing the franchise's second title in its fourth Super Bowl appearance. Running back Kenneth Walker III was instrumental in the victory, rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries against the Patriots' defense. The Seahawks' defense also contributed with two interceptions of Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.

Seattle coach Mike Macdonald, at 38, became the third-youngest coach to win a Super Bowl. His defensive play-calling was widely praised for its effectiveness against the Patriots. The team will face challenges this season with the departures of key players, including Walker, who now plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, and defensive standouts Riq Woolen and Coby Bryant.
