Seattle Seahawks guard Quenton Nelson will undergo a minor knee procedure and is considered week-to-week, coach Mike Macdonald announced Friday.
Nelson, 30, is not expected to be placed on injured reserve. He will miss Sunday's game against the Cardinals but the team does not anticipate a long absence.
"There's a timeline right now that warrants not IR, so that's what we're going to do," Macdonald told reporters. "We re-imaged it, and it was aggravated to some degree. So we've kind of done the due diligence, and everybody agrees it's best to take care of it now and play the long game."
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the procedure will involve cleaning out cartilage in Nelson's knee. Macdonald confirmed that Nelson was dealing with knee issues prior to his arrival in Seattle from the Indianapolis Colts via trade on Oct. 27, and the symptoms have worsened since.
Nelson has played in only one game for the Seahawks since the trade, which sent the former eight-time Pro Bowler to Seattle in exchange for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick. The trade occurred during the Colts' sell-off of assets following a difficult start to their 2026 season.
