Scottie Scheffler, currently ranked world No. 1 in golf, has attributed a portion of his recent success to a changing family dynamic, including more frequent travel with his wife and two sons. Scheffler, who recently won the FedEx St. Jude Championship, spoke about his family's presence during his season on "The Pat McAfee Show."
"Yeah, we had our second son during this season. That was an exciting time," Scheffler said, referring to the birth of his son Remy earlier in the year. "And my family has been traveling with me a lot this year, which has been really fun."
His wife, Meredith, and their two sons, Bennett and Remy, have been present at many of his tournaments. This family involvement was notably visible during the celebration following his win at the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
Scheffler is currently competing in the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club in Town and Country, Mo. After an opening round on Thursday, August 20, 2026, where he finished with a score of 2-over par, tying him for last place among the field, Scheffler improved significantly on Friday, August 21, 2026. He shot a 5-under par to bring his total to 3-under heading into the weekend.
While overcoming the early deficit in the BMW Championship presents a challenge, Scheffler is reportedly feeling positive as he looks ahead to the TOUR Championship in Atlanta the following week.
