The lead play-by-play announcer for the NBA's San Antonio Spurs, Jacob Tobey, has reportedly been fired following accusations of infidelity. The dismissal comes after his ex-girlfriend posted claims on social media alleging he had an affair with a player's sister.

Earlier this week, the ex-girlfriend shared posts on Tobey's social media account accusing him of cheating. One post, which included a photo of the couple, stated, "This is my girlfriend of six years. But I cheated on her so feel free to continue following me if you really think I’m a good guy because I’m not. :)". Another post featured a series of photos that appeared to show Tobey and another woman kissing in a photo booth at a San Antonio bar.

These posts were later deleted, and Tobey's social media accounts have since been made private. The ex-girlfriend confirmed on her own Instagram account that she was responsible for the posts and that their relationship had ended.

Tobey has been the play-by-play announcer for the Spurs since 2024. He had developed a strong reputation in sports media and was recognized last year by Front Office Sports as one of the rising young broadcasters in the field. Prior to joining the Spurs, Tobey worked for 9News in Denver and covered games for Fox Sports and the Pac-12 Network.

The Spurs recently reached the NBA Finals, where they were defeated 4-1 by the New York Knicks, securing the Knicks' first championship since 1973. The team features a core of promising young players, including star Victor Wembanyama, making the announcer position a high-profile role.
