Cristiano Ronaldo did not travel with Al-Nassr for their AFC Champions League match against Pakhtakor on Monday, reportedly due to ongoing security concerns.
Al-Nassr coach Ange Postecoglou also left out other players, including Kingsley Coman and Mohamed Simakan, for the trip to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Postecoglou stated the decision was made "given the pressure of matches and the amount of travel involved."
In Ronaldo's absence, Portuguese international Joao Felix scored two goals in Al-Nassr's 6-2 victory.
The decision to leave Ronaldo out comes after Al Nassr's match at home to Al Wasl was postponed the previous week. Al Wasl had refused to travel due to the situation in Saudi Arabia, where airports have faced attacks from Houthi rebels.
Ronaldo, 41, had recently scored a hat-trick against Al Kholood in the Saudi Pro League on Thursday, bringing his season total to nine goals in 12 appearances. He is also nearing the milestone of 1,000 career goals.
