Robbie Ure has finalized a significant transfer to Spanish La Liga club Sevilla, agreeing to terms on a five-year contract. The deal is reported to be worth an initial £5.5 million, with an additional £2.1 million in potential add-ons, bringing the total value to £7.6 million.

Ure, a 22-year-old Scottish forward, joins Sevilla from Swedish league leaders IK Sirius, where he enjoyed a prolific period. He scored 15 goals in league play and 20 across all competitions during his time in Sweden, establishing himself as a standout talent.

The move represents a culmination of Ure's decision to leave Rangers as a teenager in pursuit of greater opportunities. He initially declined a contract extension at Rangers in May 2023 to join Belgian club Anderlecht. After limited first-team action in Belgium, Ure found considerable success at Sirius.

"If you had told me four years ago that I was going to be a Sevilla player, I would have been so, so happy," Ure stated. "It was a big decision at the time, and for me to be sitting here as a Sevilla player tells me that it was the right decision to make. If you don’t take risks, especially in football, you can always end up thinking of the ‘what ifs’. To become the best footballer I can be, I have to take risks and challenge myself."

Ure explained that his intention upon moving to Sirius was always to challenge himself in one of Europe's top five leagues. He expressed a desire to test himself both as a player and as an individual, separate from the typical path for Scottish players. "I think I’ve grown in both aspects," he commented.

Sevilla has acquired a striker who believes his greatest strength is scoring goals. "My main priority when I go onto the pitch is to score goals," Ure said. "I think I have other strengths, of course, but this, for me, is one of my best. I think I have unique attributes that make it difficult to defend against me. I can drop deep to receive the ball, link the game and hold it up, but I can also be a technical player capable of creating chances for others. But I think I can improve everything."

Ure is eligible to play for Ukraine through a family connection but indicated his commitment to Scotland, noting the historical Scottish connection to Sevilla through its first president, Edward Johnston. "Scotland, of course, is my country, and I’m sure Sevilla now has a lot more Scottish supporters," he remarked.
