Reece James is a doubt for England's World Cup last-16 match against Mexico after missing the team's final training session. The right-back sustained a hamstring injury in the closing stages of England's goalless draw with Ghana and has not trained fully with the squad since.

James, 26, was the only player absent from Saturday's training session in Mexico City. The Football Association confirmed that he is following an individual training program away from the rest of the team.

In contrast, Jarrell Quansah has returned to full training and is available for selection for Monday's tie. Quansah, who can play at centre-back or full-back, had also been suffering from a hamstring injury, which he picked up during the draw with Panama. His recovery provides a boost to manager Thomas Tuchel's defensive options.

Djed Spence started at right-back in England's victory over DR Congo, but midfielder Declan Rice finished that match in the same position. Rice, who has been managing a hamstring issue, is expected to be available for the game at the Azteca stadium.
