Boston Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow stated Tuesday that he is not yet prepared to make a decision about the team's approach to the upcoming trade deadline. With the Red Sox currently holding a 32-46 record and sitting in last place in the AL East, Breslow indicated that the team still has time to improve its performance.

"I still think that we’re capable of playing better and stacking some wins together and hope that we can do that…We’re still not at a point where that decision is clear," Breslow told reporters. He added that the team will "do everything we can to get the ship righted for 2026."

The Red Sox have already undergone a significant change this season, firing manager Alex Cora in April. Interim manager Chad Tracy has led the team to a 22-29 record since taking over. Despite the overall struggles, Breslow is focused on the remaining games before the August 3 trade deadline.

Team Performance and Future Outlook

The team's pitching has been a relative strength, boasting the fourth-best team ERA in Major League Baseball. However, the offense has been a significant weakness, with the Red Sox ranking last in total RBIs and second-to-last in home runs. The club is currently 6 1/2 games out of the final American League wild-card spot.

Breslow acknowledged the need for the team to find a better rhythm. "Because like I said, we’ve got a lot of baseball games to play between now and then," he said. The decision on whether to sell or buy at the deadline will depend on the team's performance in the coming weeks.
