The Baltimore Ravens are facing a quarterback crisis after backup signal-caller Tyler Huntley was reportedly ruled out for the remainder of the season with a turf toe injury.
Huntley had stepped in for Lamar Jackson on Sunday during the Ravens' 35-6 defeat to the Buffalo Bills after Jackson suffered an injury on the game's opening play. However, Huntley himself exited the game in the second quarter following a tackle by Buffalo defensive lineman Ed Oliver.
According to ESPN, tests revealed Huntley sustained turf toe, an injury that previously sidelined Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow for nine games last season. Huntley is expected to undergo surgery and be placed on injured reserve.
Jackson, whose contract is worth $260 million, was injured on the first snap of his return from a three-game absence due to an ankle issue. He attempted a pass that was partially blocked, and his follow-through struck a Bills defender's arm, leading to a thumb injury that head coach Jesse Minter confirmed would require surgery and a placement on injured reserve. This designation means Jackson will miss at least the next four games, with the potential to end his 2026 season.
With both Jackson and Huntley unavailable, undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano is expected to start Thursday night's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fagnano, who played at UConn, completed two of his first two passes for 28 yards in relief on Sunday but finished the game with 91 yards on 10-of-21 passing, one interception, and no touchdowns.
The Ravens have made a roster move to add depth, signing Kedon Slovis from the Green Bay Packers' practice squad to their 53-man roster. Slovis has limited NFL experience, having thrown only two passes in his career.
