Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty suffered an apparent leg injury during training camp practice on Sunday and was helped off the field. The 22-year-old was reportedly unable to put any pressure on his right leg after the incident.
Jeanty sustained the injury while attempting to catch a pass during a team period. He remained on the ground until he was assisted off the field, which caused the indoor practice facility to fall silent. The entire team knelt and appeared to pray for their teammate following the injury.
The Raiders have not yet issued a statement regarding Jeanty's condition, and head coach Klint Kubiak is not scheduled to speak with reporters until Tuesday.
In his rookie season last year, Jeanty was drafted with the No. 6 overall pick out of Boise State. He recorded 975 rushing yards and five touchdowns, along with 55 receptions for 346 yards and five receiving touchdowns over 17 games. He played behind a struggling offensive line.
Jeanty had limited participation in the team's first two preseason games. He had three carries for 16 yards against the Arizona Cardinals and did not play in the subsequent game against the Houston Texans.
If Jeanty is sidelined, the Raiders would likely turn to fourth-round rookie Mike Washington Jr., Dylan Laube, undrafted rookie Roman Hemby, and Dare Ogunbowale. Washington Jr. took first-team snaps in Jeanty's place after the injury and had been receiving some first-team repetitions during training camp due to his performance.
