Emma Raducanu participated in a late practice session at Wimbledon, a final fitness test to assess her readiness for the tournament.
Raducanu, seeded 30th, is scheduled to play world No. 61 Antonia Ruzic of Croatia on Court No. 1 on Monday afternoon. She had postponed her pre-Wimbledon press conference on Saturday after shortening an earlier practice session the same day.
The British player wore significant strapping on her right ankle and lower shin, an indication of a pre-existing injury aggravated during her recent run to the Queen's final. She was observed wearing the same protection during a hitting session on the Aorangi Park practice courts on Sunday morning.
While Raducanu appeared to strike the ball effectively, her movement at times was not entirely convincing. However, there was no indication she needed to overexert herself during the practice session. Her coach, Andrew Richardson, was present throughout the session.
Raducanu previously lost to Ruzic in Dubai in February, though she was dealing with a chest infection at the time. This history suggests her Wimbledon opener may be favorable on paper.
