A Sky Bet customer has turned a £20 stake into £5,300 by cashing out a nine-leg World Cup accumulator bet with one selection remaining. The bet, placed before the tournament began, included various stages of elimination, qualification outcomes, and the top goalscorer.

The punter opted to cash out after eight of the nine legs were successfully landed, leaving only Kylian Mbappe to finish as the tournament's top goalscorer. Had the customer allowed the bet to run to completion, a successful Golden Boot outcome for Mbappe could have resulted in a total payout of £9,792.

The full accumulator included predictions such as England reaching the semi-finals, which they achieved after a 2-1 victory over Norway, as well as Argentina, Spain, and France all making it to the semi-finals. Other legs involved Curacao, Haiti, and Qatar being eliminated in the group stages, and Brazil winning Group C.

In a separate instance, another customer used Sky Bet's 120-minute Build-A-Bet player markets during England's quarter-final match. This punter turned a £20 stake into £850 with a 42.5/1 bet, which included Jude Bellingham scoring a brace and Julian Alvarez scoring anytime, with both selections accounting for extra time.

Sky Bet has reported paying out £720,000 on bets that included winning legs settled in extra time, with £430,000 of that amount specifically from the England game on Saturday evening. The 120-minute Build-A-Bets offer an advantage in knockout football by including potential extra-time outcomes, unlike traditional 90-minute markets.
