Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua left a joint practice session with the Dallas Cowboys early for reasons that remain unclear, adding to an uncertain outlook for his Week 1 availability. Rams head coach Sean McVay stated he was unaware of the cause for Nacua's departure following the practice.
Nacua's health has been a point of consideration, with Draft Sharks labeling him a medium injury risk for the 2026 season, projecting a 51% chance of injury and 2.2 missed games. His medical history includes a Grade 2 PCL sprain that sidelined him for five games in 2024, an ankle sprain that caused him to miss one game last season, and a rib injury he played through in 2025.
Adding to the uncertainty, ESPN reported that the NFL is reviewing Nacua for several offseason incidents that could lead to disciplinary action. A suspension that would cause him to miss the Rams' season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia is a possibility, although no suspension has been announced. The early departure from practice is being treated as a separate development unless evidence links the two.
The Rams are awaiting further information to assess Nacua's status for the start of the season.
