Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the 10th inning against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night, but the home team rallied for a 3-2 victory.

The Cubs entered the 10th inning with only two hits. Crow-Armstrong stepped to the plate with two outs and hit a two-run blast that appeared to be the decisive blow. After taking a first-pitch strike, he connected on a pitch below the strike zone, immediately signaling the ball was out of the park.

Crow-Armstrong's home run erased his 0-for-4 performance at the plate for the game. As he rounded the bases, he performed his signature celebration, placing his arms behind his neck and flexing toward the Cubs' dugout.

However, the Cardinals quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning. Reliever Trent Thornton allowed a single to Lars Nootbaar, who was then walked, loading the bases. After a fielder's choice for one out, Ivan Herrera hit a double to left field, driving in two runs to secure the win for St. Louis and snap their three-game losing streak.

Crow-Armstrong has emerged as a contender for National League MVP honors in 2026. He has hit 24 home runs and driven in 63 runs with a .920 OPS, placing him among the top 25 players in MLB.
