New England Patriots linebacker Dre'Mont Jones marked his first sack of the season against his former team, the Seattle Seahawks, with a pointed social media post that included a tag directed at the franchise.

Jones, who played for the Seahawks from 2023 to 2024, was responsible for a sack that resulted in a hip injury to Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold early in the game. The play occurred on the fifth snap of the contest.

Following the hit, Jones shared a post on Instagram that included a video of the play and images of his celebration. He tagged an account with the username "f***_the_seahawks" in the post, a move noted by fans. His caption read, "Year 8. First NFL sack of the season. Gotta win the close ones but we will next time #gopats."

Darnold landed awkwardly on his right knee after the tackle, which put significant force on his right hip and leg. He initially signaled to medical staff that he could continue but eventually left the field for the blue tent before heading to the locker room and being ruled out of the game. The quarterback was then transported to Harborview Medical Center for scans, with an MRI conducted later. Team doctors are reviewing the results.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald stated that a fracture has been ruled out but indicated that further tests are pending. A definitive timeline for Darnold's return has not been established, and his availability for Seattle's upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals on September 20 remains uncertain.

Jones played two seasons with the Seahawks, accumulating 77 tackles and 8.5 sacks before moving to the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens before joining the Patriots. The circumstances of his departure from Seattle, after signing a three-year deal that was cut short, appear to have contributed to his current sentiments toward the franchise.
