A parent has been cited by police for what authorities described as a "cowardly act" after tripping a nine-year-old football player during a game in Racine, Wisconsin. The incident occurred last week when a father, supporting the Milwaukee Colts, intervened in a game against the Case Eagles.

Video footage shows an Eagles player, wearing No. 88, running toward the end zone when the man entered the field and tripped the child. Both the player and the parent fell to the ground, with the child appearing to land on his head. Mount Pleasant Police stated the 41-year-old man had become upset over a previous play. He left the field but was apprehended by officers nearby. Police reported that the man was cooperative, admitted to the action, and acknowledged his wrongdoing.

The man was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and subsequently released. Channing Schultz, the head coach of the Eagles, who was not present during the incident, called the act "disgusting" and the "most cowardly act I've ever seen." He expressed concern that the player's leg could have been broken.

The parent has been banned from attending games for the remainder of the season. However, Schultz believes the penalty should be more severe, advocating for a lifetime ban. With the two teams scheduled to play again in two weeks, Schultz stated he is considering forfeiting the game if he cannot ensure the safety of his players.
