OG Anunoby, a key player in the New York Knicks' 2026 NBA championship victory, has stated he is already looking past the defining moment of that historic season. Anunoby was pivotal in the Knicks securing their first NBA title since 1973, delivering a game-winning tip-in with 1.2 seconds remaining in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, which helped New York erase a 29-point deficit.

Despite the significance of the play, Anunoby expressed in a recent interview with Sky Sports that he is ready to focus on the future rather than dwell on past accomplishments. "It comes up quite a bit so I see it quite a bit," Anunoby said. When asked if he still feels the same excitement watching the clip, he responded, "No. I’m over it now."

Anunoby, known for his reserved demeanor, has maintained this approach even after contributing one of the most dramatic moments in recent NBA history. He described the team's championship journey as a process of collective focus, with the team taking "every game day by day, game by game." He recalled a streak of 13 consecutive wins during their playoff run, emphasizing a continuous effort to improve.

Before the playoffs began, Anunoby noted that the team united with a singular goal, dedicating themselves to incremental progress. This mindset extended through the Finals, with a consistent focus on the immediate next step.

Anunoby, who turned 29 in June, averaged 16.7 points per game during the regular season, shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from three-point range. He was also named to the Second Team All-Defense for the second time in his career.

During the playoffs, his performance elevated to 20.1 points per game, with a 56 percent field goal percentage and approximately 49 percent shooting from beyond the arc. He also averaged 6.3 rebounds per contest. Anunoby, like teammate Jalen Brunson, is eligible for an extension next season. His current contract extends through the 2027-28 season, with a player option for the 2028-29 season.
