Tennis player Nick Kyrgios has announced that he tested positive for cocaine. The former Wimbledon finalist shared the news in a statement on Instagram, taking full responsibility for the failed drug test administered in Mallorca.

Kyrgios, 31, expressed deep disappointment in himself and apologized to his fans, family, sponsors, and especially the children who follow him, acknowledging the negative example set. He stated that he would not offer excuses but provided context regarding the significant physical and mental toll that persistent injuries have taken on his career in recent years.

"Coming to terms with being near the end of my career has been harder that I ever imagined," Kyrgios wrote. He described letting go of tennis, which has been his life, as one of the most challenging experiences, at times leaving him feeling helpless and alone.

Despite the admission, Kyrgios stated that the positive test has served as a wake-up call. He plans to step away from social media and public life for the next 28 days to focus on his recovery. He requested privacy for himself and his family during this period, vowing to "do the work and come back better."
