The National Hockey League (NHL) has officially announced its new "Hometown Remix" program, a league-wide initiative with jersey supplier Fanatics that will introduce unique colors and logos for all 32 franchises. This program marks Fanatics' first league-wide jersey effort since becoming the official supplier in 2024.
The Hometown Remix program is expected to draw comparisons to similar initiatives in other professional sports leagues, such as Major League Baseball's (MLB) City Connect jerseys and the National Basketball Association's (NBA) City Edition jerseys. These programs aim to pay homage to each team's city with distinct designs.
The NHL's previous league-wide jersey program was Adidas's Reverse Retro series, which offered reimagined sweaters drawing from a team's historical designs or broader city hockey history. The most recent iteration, Reverse Retro 2.0 during the 2023-24 season, featured notable designs such as the Montreal Canadiens in a powder blue.
The Hometown Remix program will also extend to merchandise, including apparel and accessories featuring the new colors and logos. Reports have suggested that some teams will adopt significantly different aesthetics. For instance, the Florida Panthers might introduce a pink jersey, and the Chicago Blackhawks could feature a green design, reminiscent of old-school University of North Dakota hockey jerseys.
While details and potential designs have been circulating, the official unveiling is slated for shortly after the commencement of the 2026-27 NHL season. Fans hoping to see the new sweaters in the coming weeks will have to wait until the program's official rollout.
