NFL teams continued to adjust their rosters and address player injuries on Monday as the league heads toward its Week 1 matchups. The Dallas Cowboys made a notable roster move by waiving quarterback Joe Milton, positioning Sam Howell as the primary backup to Dak Prescott.

Milton, a sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, spent six seasons in college at Michigan and Tennessee. During his senior year at Tennessee, he completed 64.5% of his passes for 2,813 yards, with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions. His future in the league is now uncertain, with the possibility of being claimed off waivers by another team.

Commanders' Offensive Line Hit by Injuries

The Washington Commanders have placed veteran offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and defensive lineman Jer’Zhan Newton on injured reserve. Tunsil is recovering from a triceps tear sustained early in training camp, while Newton suffered a torn pectoral muscle during a preseason game. Both players could potentially return later in the season, but their absences present a significant challenge for the Commanders' coaching staff, particularly in a competitive NFC East division. Tunsil joined the Commanders last season via a trade with the Houston Texans.

Nabers' Week 1 Status Remains Uncertain

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers has progressed to participating in full-contact team drills after shedding his no-contact jersey. However, his availability for the team's Week 1 season opener on September 13 against the Dallas Cowboys remains undecided. Nabers is recovering from a torn ACL in his right knee.

"My mind is focused on playing the regular season: playing whenever that is," Nabers told reporters. "There’s still some things that you still have to check off the box for you to participate. I’m still going through that, still listening to the trainers, still listening to doctors and sharing everything with them." He expressed optimism about his physical recovery but emphasized that final clearance is a collaborative process with medical staff and the coaching team.

Chargers Sign Herbert to Practice Squad

The Los Angeles Chargers have signed tight end Patrick Herbert to their practice squad, reuniting him with his brother, starting quarterback Justin Herbert. Patrick Herbert was waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars and received interest from multiple teams before choosing Los Angeles. The brothers played together at Oregon in 2019. Patrick Herbert recorded two receptions for 12 yards during the Jaguars' preseason action.

In other league news, the Minnesota Vikings released quarterback Max Brosmer. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. expressed emotion upon learning he made the New York Giants' 53-man roster. The New York Jets announced Cade Klubnik will serve as the backup quarterback to Geno Smith. The Houston Texans expect wide receiver Tank Dell to begin the season on injured reserve as he recovers from a knee injury.
