Ceyair Wright, an undrafted free agent defensive back signed by the Cincinnati Bengals in April, has left the team to pursue opportunities in television and film. The Bengals placed Wright on the Exempt/Left Squad after he informed them of his decision to pursue acting.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor described Wright's decision as difficult, stating that two of his passions were colliding. "He called us last night and let us know that he had an opportunity," Taylor said. "I know it was a difficult decision for him. I think two things he’s really passionate about were colliding and he decided to pursue this opportunity."

Taylor added that Wright is a "great kid" who competed hard during his time with the team and that he was seen as an ascending player. "We wish him the best. He was fun to be around. He really competed hard for us. It was fun watching him play. I thought he was ascending as a player. But, obviously, he’s chosen to go a different path."

Wright has prior acting experience, including a role as LeBron James' son in the 2021 film "Space Jam: A New Legacy." His IMDb credits also list a role in "Training Day" and appearances on the television sitcoms "Grown-ish" and "2 Broke Girls."

The Bengals have since signed Matthew McDoom as a replacement for Wright.

Ceyair Wright and John Legend stand together at a film premiere.
