Newcastle United has reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of 18-year-old midfielder Sean Steur, with the initial deal valued at £19.6 million and potentially rising to £22.6 million with add-ons. The player is expected to sign a five-year contract.
Steur, an Netherlands Under-19 international, has made 25 appearances for Ajax and is considered a promising talent. The Dutch club is reportedly looking to strengthen its squad and also has young Belgian midfielder Jorthy Mokio, who plays a similar position. Ajax has also requested a 12.5 percent sell-on clause as part of the deal.
Newcastle is also actively pursuing Freiburg's Johan Manzambi, a World Cup star valued at approximately £40 million. The English club is reportedly in a strong position to sign the Switzerland international midfielder, despite increasing interest from other clubs. This follows recent transfer activity for Newcastle, including the departure of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham in a deal that could reach £100 million, and Arsenal's continued interest in Bruno Guimaraes.
