A new podcast series titled "Cult of Kobe," dedicated to exploring the legacy of the late NBA icon through conversations with prominent figures, has launched with Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla as its inaugural guest. The choice of Mazzulla, whose Celtics team famously faced Bryant's Los Angeles Lakers in the 2010 NBA Finals, is considered a pointed selection given Bryant's own high regard for that championship victory.
Mazzulla's episode is the first in a series where each installment features a notable individual inspired by Bryant. The podcast is produced by Religion of Sports, a company co-founded by Tom Brady, Michael Strahan, and Gotham Chopra. Chopra, who previously directed the 2015 documentary "Kobe Bryant’s Muse," will co-host "Cult of Kobe" alongside Varun Soni, dean of Religion and University Chaplain at USC.
Future guests slated for the podcast include musician Jon Bon Jovi, Celtics player Jaylen Brown, author JR Mohringer, "Men in Blazers" podcast host Roger Bennett, and Religion of Sports co-founder Tom Brady. Religion of Sports has a history of producing acclaimed sports documentaries and series, including HBO's "Alex vs ARod," Paramount+'s "5 Star" and "Made for March," Netflix's "Simone Biles Rising," and Amazon's "Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues."
