College football programs Miami, Indiana, and Florida State secured notable recruiting victories in July, bolstering their 2027 classes with key commitments. Miami added its fifth five-star recruit for the 2027 cycle, while Indiana and Florida State made significant gains, with Indiana securing its first-ever five-star commitment.
The Miami Hurricanes made a significant move on the last day of July when five-star cornerback A'mir Sears reclassified from 2028 to 2027 and committed to the program. This addition brings Miami's total to five five-star recruits for the 2027 cycle, placing them atop many recruiting industry rankings with the highest average player rating. As of August 1, the Hurricanes have 21 commits, leaving room for further expansion of their highly-ranked class.
The Indiana Hoosiers achieved a historic recruiting milestone with the commitment of five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales. Sales, a highly sought-after prospect from Indianapolis, chose Indiana over programs including Alabama. At 6'5" with noted speed, Sales' commitment marks the first time Indiana has secured a five-star recruit in its program's history, significantly altering the program's recruiting narrative.
Florida State also experienced a notable resurgence in July recruiting, following a slower start to their 2027 class. After struggling in May with a class ranked in the 50s and no four-star commits, the Seminoles added two four-star prospects in July. Among these was safety Ta'Shawn Poole, a top-100 prospect from Georgia who committed to Florida State over the home-state Bulldogs. The Seminoles also secured four-star wide receiver Za'Kari Johnson and three-star edge prospect Meshi Dobson, both from Florida and previously courted by other major programs. These commitments have transformed Florida State's 2027 class from a potential concern to an impressive showing, particularly given uncertainties surrounding head coach Mike Norvell's future.
