Matthew Stafford, quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, has been named to the Madden NFL "99 Club" for the first time in his 18-year career. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the 38-year-old player, acknowledging his standout performance during the 2025 season.
The "99 Club" is an exclusive group of players who receive a perfect 99 rating in the EA Sports Madden NFL video game. Stafford's previous career-high Madden rating was a 91, and it had dipped as low as 75 two years prior. The recent perfect rating is a testament to his remarkable late-career resurgence.
In the 2025 season, Stafford led the NFL with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdowns, earning him his first MVP award. He also guided the Rams to the brink of a Super Bowl appearance. Following this successful season, his overall Madden rating saw an 11-point increase from an 88 at the start of the season to the coveted 99.
Stafford now joins his teammate, reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, in the Madden "99 Club." Garrett earned his third career perfect rating after recording a record 23 sacks in the previous season. The Rams are the first team to enter a season with both the reigning league MVP and the reigning Defensive Player of the Year on their roster.
This honor also places Stafford in esteemed company within the Rams franchise history. He and Garrett are the third and fourth players in franchise history to achieve a 99 overall rating in Madden, following in the footsteps of legends Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey.
