Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden is being viewed by National Football League executives as a player on the verge of a breakout season. League insiders believe Golden has the potential to become a major contributor for the Packers in the upcoming season, with one AFC executive noting his speed and readiness to perform.

Golden, selected 23rd overall in the first round, showcased his explosive athleticism at the combine with a 4.29 40-yard dash, the fastest among all receivers. His prospect stock has risen significantly, particularly with the recent departure of Romeo Doubs to the Patriots and the trade of Dontayvion Wicks to the Eagles, clearing a path for increased playing time.

In his previous season, Golden appeared in 14 games, starting five, and recorded 29 catches for 361 yards. He showed flashes of his potential during the playoffs, accumulating four catches for 84 yards and a touchdown in a loss to the Bears.

With the Packers' offense facing a potential shift, especially with running back Josh Jacobs on the commissioner's exempt list, the team may rely more heavily on its passing game. Coach Matt LaFleur indicated that the team anticipates greater opportunities for its key receivers, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Golden, emphasizing the need for them to be on the field for as many plays as possible.

"I think really what it's gonna be is gonna be more opportunity for everybody in that room — or I should say for our three main guys — and we need them out there for as many plays as humanly possible," LaFleur told reporters. "We know that this guy, speaking of Christian — I think all three of those guys are difference makers, but we need them out on the field for as many snaps as possible."
