A football match in the Netherlands was abandoned on Saturday after a player lost three teeth in a tunnel brawl. The third-tier game between IJsselmeervogels and GVVV descended into chaos when Quiermo Dumay, who plays for IJsselmeervogels, was allegedly attacked.

The incident saw fans and players from both clubs involved in a physical altercation, prompting police intervention. The match did not resume after halftime.

Dumay, 25, sustained the injuries during the incident, resulting in him losing three teeth and his kit becoming blood-stained. Reports indicate that IJsselmeervogels players refused to continue the match, and the club is expected to file a report with the police.

Police surrounded the tunnel to restrict access. According to initial reports, a member of GVVV's coaching staff is believed to have struck Dumay. Fans were also escorted from the stadium in Bunschoten amid concerns of further crowd disturbances.

Officials stated that confrontations had already occurred in the stands prior to the more serious incident in the tunnel. GVVV was leading the match 2-0 at the time of the abandonment.

A club secretary for IJsselmeervogels described the events as "a shame" and "bizarre and unprecedented," adding that a thorough investigation is required. The secretary relayed that the apparent cause was an assistant coach from GVVV striking one of their players, who was then on the ground. This reportedly led to a massive escalation of the situation due to the intense and distressing scene of a player bleeding and having lost teeth.
