Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis visited Olympiacos striker Ayoub El Kaabi in the hospital after the player suffered a severe leg fracture during a Greek Super League match on Saturday. El Kaabi sustained the injury against Volos when he collided with the opposing goalkeeper, Marios Siampanis, while charging toward the net. The Morocco international, who won the Golden Boot in the Greek top flight last season for the second time since joining Olympiacos in 2023, immediately signaled for medical attention.
Marinakis, who is also the president of Olympiacos, shared a message of support on social media, posting a picture from El Kaabi's bedside. He expressed wishes for a strong recovery, emphasizing El Kaabi's resilience as a winner. Marinakis assured El Kaabi that the entire Olympiacos organization stands with him, promising comprehensive care throughout his recovery and affirming his permanent place within the club's family.
El Kaabi confirmed that the surgery performed by the Olympiacos team doctor was successful. He expressed gratitude on Instagram for the support from the president, coach, players, and staff, as well as the messages and prayers from Olympiacos fans. He stated his determination to return stronger.
Olympiacos, who have won the league 48 times, are currently third in the standings, trailing the leaders by two points after the initial three matches of the season.
