Marcus Rashford has revealed a new tattoo on his abdomen featuring the shirt numbers he has worn throughout his career, including the No. 9 he will now wear for Manchester United. This comes after it became clear he would remain with the club this season.
The 28-year-old winger, who spent time on loan at Aston Villa and Barcelona over the past two years, returned to Manchester United and was recently assigned the No. 9 shirt. He made his first start for the club in 626 days in the 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town on Sunday.
Rashford's abdominal tattoo now displays the numbers 10, 19, and 39, which he previously wore at Manchester United, alongside the No. 14 from his loan spell at Barcelona and the No. 9 from his time at Aston Villa. The tattoo is inscribed below the words: 'What your eyes see can be misleading, never judge a book by its cover.'
Rashford shared the update on social media with the caption, 'New number, Same mission…' He also had a new neck tattoo done, which reads: 'Love and let be.' Both tattoos were created by celebrity tattooist Dale McGovern.
Following his return to the starting lineup, defender Harry Maguire expressed confidence in Rashford's potential contribution to the team. Maguire stated that a "happy, driven and hungry" Rashford would be a significant asset for Manchester United this season. He added that if Rashford "wants to work and wants to improve," his potential is limitless.
Barcelona declined the opportunity to make Rashford's loan move permanent this summer, leading to speculation about his reintegration into the Manchester United squad. His recent appearances, including starting against Ipswich, have shown him providing a valuable option on the wing for manager Michael Carrick.
