Madison Keys celebrated Independence Day by defeating sixth seed Amanda Anisimova 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in an all-American third-round match at Wimbledon. The victory on Centre Court secured Keys's place in the Round of 16.

Anisimova, last year's runner-up, took the first set, capitalizing on strong serving that Keys struggled to return. However, Keys, the 26th seed, found her rhythm in the second set. Anisimova's serve, which had produced 20 aces in her previous match, faltered, leading to service breaks for Keys in the second and eighth games of the set.

Keys, who won the Eastbourne grass-court warm-up tournament last month, demonstrated increased confidence and consistency. She won 76% of her first-serve points and committed 23 unforced errors, compared to Anisimova's 42. A decisive backhand pass in the fourth game of the final set gave Keys a crucial break of serve, and she closed out the match when Anisimova's return went wide.

Keys was one of several American players competing on July 4, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Ashlyn Krueger also advanced to the last 16 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Daria Snigur of Ukraine. However, other American players faced early exits. Emma Navarro, the 23rd seed, lost to Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine in three sets. In the men's draw, Zachary Svajda, making his Wimbledon debut, took a set off fifth-seed Alex de Minaur before being eliminated.

In other women's doubles news, sisters Venus and Serena Williams withdrew from their anticipated match due to Serena Williams's knee injury.
