Liverpool has completed the signing of 18-year-old goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Genk for a fee reported to be just under £30 million. The deal, confirmed on deadline day, includes an initial payment of £28 million, with an additional £1.5 million in potential bonuses.
Brughmans will remain on loan at Genk for the ongoing season and is set to join Liverpool's Anfield squad ahead of the 2027-28 campaign. He has agreed to a six-year contract with the club. The acquisition highlights Liverpool's strategy of identifying and developing young talent through its Global Talent team, which had identified Brughmans amidst interest from Real Madrid.
He follows other recent acquisitions made by the club, including Amin Pesci, Mor Talla N'Diaye, Ifeanyi Ndukwe, and Samuel Martinez, who have all joined within the last twelve months. Brughmans previously showcased his potential at the 2025 UEFA Under 17 Championship in Albania.
This move comes shortly after Liverpool confirmed the £123 million signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain. Barcola, 23, has signed a five-year contract and his transfer was finalized after extensive negotiations. The signing of Barcola represents a significant boost for new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola, whose tenure has begun with two draws. Barcola joins Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz as other notable summer additions to the squad.
