Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell welcomed his first child with his wife, Megan, in July, just months before he sustained a significant injury during Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. Campbell, 26, and his wife welcomed their son, Cooper James Campbell, on July 3.

Dan Campbell, the Lions' head coach, provided an update on the player Monday, stating that the family is in good spirits and viewing the injury as a "small setback." The coach mentioned he visited Campbell the previous night and spoke with his parents and wife.

"That's the family, they're very positive. So that's good in that regard," Dan Campbell told reporters. Reports indicate that Megan Campbell was with her husband in the ambulance as he was transported to a Detroit hospital.

The injury occurred in the fourth quarter of the Lions' 19-15 victory when Campbell attempted to tackle Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson. Video showed Campbell lying motionless on the field, appearing to lose feeling in his extremities before being stretched off and taken to the hospital.

On Monday, the team released a statement indicating that "preliminary indications are positive" but did not provide further details out of respect for Campbell and his family. He remains hospitalized for rest and recovery.

Campbell, a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, is in his fourth season with the Lions. Last year, he earned his first All-Pro selection after recording five sacks and 176 tackles in 17 starts. The Lions currently hold a 5-2 record and are set to play the Dolphins in Week 9.
